Books to read this Muharram

The 10 days of Muharram have been labelled by many of our great scholars as the “University Of Imam Husayn (as)”. In this spirit we have gathered a short list of 3 books which will serve to educate, enlighten and elevate us in the holy days of this month.

For each books we have included links to either download or purchase them. We do not earn any money, aren’t affiliated with, nor been sponsored by the websites/bookshops that we have linked to.

Peace be Upon Ibrahim

A relatively recent book, this book tells of the story of a young man, Ibrahim Hadi, who grew up in Iran during the reign of the Pahlavi Regime. It is a story of how he purified himself and became a Shaheed in the defence of his religion.

This is a great book for kids, teenagers and young adults looking to use the 12 days of Muharram to renew their Bay’at with Imam Husayn (as).

This book has already touched thousands of lives and is now available in English.

You can download this book from the Ebrahim Hadi Foundation here for free or purchase a physical copy from House of Taha here.

Then I was Guided: Dr M T Samawi

Another biography; in this fascinating book, Dr Muhammad Samawi tells the story of his journey to the Madhab of the Ahlulbayt. A journey that took him from Tunisia to Iraq and Makkah.

A PDF of this book can be downloaded from al-islam.org and a physical copy can be bought from House of Taha.

Anecdotes for Reflection By Syed Sadaqaat

In this collection, Syed Sadaqaat has compiled hundreds of stories all on specific moral issues. This is a great resource for any teachers or reciters who will be delivering classes or majalis over the coming days.

You can download volumes 1-4 on Al-islam.org, or purchase the full edition from the World Federation.
Since this book is very popular, it might be worth checking out your local centres’ bookshop before ordering online.
